Job Overview

This role involves providing support and care to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their needs are met and they achieve their personal goals.

The Disability Support Worker will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure the well-being of participants in accordance with NDIS guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility.
  2. Support participants in accessing community resources and participating in social and recreational activities.
  3. Implement individual support plans and behaviour support plans as directed.
  4. Monitor and report on the progress and well-being of participants, including documenting any changes or incidents.
  5. Complete progress reports post each shift within a 48 hour time period.
  6. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes the independence and empowerment of participants.
  7. Assist with medication administration and management as required.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with NDIS requirements and organizational policies.
  9. Communicate effectively with participants, families, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated and holistic support.
  10. Attend and participate in assigned training and professional development activities to maintain and enhance skills whenever required.
  11. Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within specified timeframes.
RequirementsQualifications
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Relevant training in medication administration (preferred).
Skills
  • Strong understanding of the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with participants, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with participants and their support networks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using technology for documentation and communication.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
Experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a disability support or related role.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities and understanding their specific needs.
  • Experience in implementing individual support plans and behaviour support plans.
  • Experience working within the NDIS framework (preferred).
