Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sommelier to join our team at The Ritz-Carlton Perth. As a Wine Expert, you will be responsible for providing exceptional wine service to our guests, while also maintaining a thorough knowledge of wine and spirits.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Wine Service: Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles to guests in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Wine Knowledge: Answer guest questions or concerns regarding the origin, vintage, and style of various wines.
  3. Wine List Management: Update and maintain wine list and MICROS system to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  4. Wine Pairing: Pair and suggest wines that will best complement menu items, enhancing the dining experience for our guests.
  5. Vendor Relationships: Attend wine tastings and develop relationships with vendors to source high-quality wines.
  6. Inventory Management: Monitor and replenish inventory of wine cellar, equipment, and glassware to ensure seamless service.
  7. Staff Training: Train and educate server and bartender staff on wine knowledge and service standards.
  8. Security and Compliance: Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas, adhering to all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Company Policies: Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures, reporting any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  2. Uniform and Appearance: Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintaining a high level of presentation.
  3. Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, protecting company assets.
  4. Teamwork: Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect, working together to achieve common goals.
  5. Quality Assurance: Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards, ensuring exceptional service and quality.
  6. Physical Demands: Meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, and lifting objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds.
