**Job Opportunity: Supporting First Nations Students in Education**

Good Shepherd Catholic College, Mount Isa is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to provide support for First Nations students.

This role involves working collaboratively with teachers to deliver targeted advice, practical assistance, and guidance to aid the learning and development of First Nation students.

The School Officer - ASL First Nations Education will actively promote student engagement in the Emerging Leaders Program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support for First Nations students in classrooms and liaising with teachers to determine their progress and wellbeing.
  • Assisting First Nations students in the transition from community to school and being a positive role model.
  • Providing guidance, pastoral care and advocacy for First Nations students and their families.

**Essential Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • The capacity to organise and prioritise tasks and set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to provide information and support to stakeholders regarding First Nations communities.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • An understanding of and sensitivity to the learning needs of First Nations students.
