You will assist the police service in building strong relationships between the community and the police, with a focus on First Nations/multicultural communities.
The role requires developing trust and understanding between police officers and local communities, providing advice on First Nations customs and protocols, and assisting community members to access policing services.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop trust and understanding between police officers and local communities.
- Provide advice on First Nations customs and protocols to ensure effective communication.
- Assist community members to access policing services and provide referrals to other community services when necessary.
To be successful in this role, you must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to work a varied roster, including weekends and shift work. You will also be required to wear a uniform and adhere to the QPS Code of Dress and Appearance.
- Requirements:
- Hold a valid Queensland 'C' class driver's licence or have the ability to acquire one.
- Wear a Police Liaison Officer uniform and adhere to the QPS Code of Dress and Appearance.
- Work to a set roster and may involve weekend work and shift work to attend local festivals and forums.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to organisational understanding of First Nations cultures and assist police officers to communicate effectively with cultural appropriateness.
