Job Overview

The Engineering Chapter is a high-performing team within Payments at Commonwealth Bank, responsible for designing and building payments systems and services. As a Senior Engineering Manager/Chapter Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the future of this chapter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers to design, build, and deliver high-quality payment solutions.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent; foster an environment of psychological safety, autonomy, and mastery.
  • Align your chapter's goals with the ambition to become a global leader in AI at scale.
  • Design solutions for complex challenges while maintaining a strong focus on security from the first line of code.
  • Encourage others to enhance their engineering skills while building top-tier applications.
  • Drive Engineering Governance, Continuous Delivery, and initiatives such as Cloud and Payments Event-based architecture.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Passion for uplifting capability, improving developer experience, and driving engagement.
  • Familiarity with Gen AI tooling, prompt engineering, and AI-enhanced development workflows.
  • Ability to balance people, culture, and technology to deliver resilient systems and delightful customer experiences.

  • Databases: Aurora/RDS, Redis, ElastiCache; Oracle
  • Languages: Typescript, Java, Python

  • Design, Testing (TDD/BDD), API design, microservices, event-driven and serverless architecture
