Payroll Officer Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Officer to join our Finance team due to upcoming business growth.

As a key member of our payroll processing team, you will assist with end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, oversee WorkCover payroll, and contribute to a data integrity project.

  • End-to-end payroll processing: Assist with processing payroll for all employees from start to finish.
  • WorkCover payroll management: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of WorkCover payroll.
  • Data integrity project: Contribute to ensuring accurate payroll records by participating in a data integrity project.
  • Collaboration and support: Support the Payroll Manager and collaborate with Finance and People & Culture teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Compliance and legislation: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and employment agreements.
  • Query response: Respond to payroll-related queries from staff and managers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process improvement: Contribute to process improvements and payroll reporting initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in payroll with proven experience in a similar payroll role.
  • Knowledge and skills: Strong understanding of fair work compliance, EA interpretation, and payroll legislation. Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate across different functions.
  • Technology: Experience with payroll systems, preferably Micropay. Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
  • Personal qualities: Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
