Manufacturing Operations Specialist

The role of Manufacturing Operations Specialist is multifaceted, encompassing both the Roasting and Packing functions. It plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless execution of the Roasting Plan, Packing Plan, and Integrated maintenance and Cleaning Plan.

This entails operating roasting equipment at a technical capacity comparable to the Roaster and Master Roaster, thereby guaranteeing quality and consistency for every roast.

Additionally, this role supports the Manufacturing Team Leader in guiding Production Operators towards delivering the production schedule, including assisting them in resolving challenges during the production process.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leadership:
    • Support leading of packing operators across key packing lines - C1&C4 (Whole Bean packing) and C3 (Ground Coffee packing)
    • Participate in operational reviews, shift and tasks handovers, and planning meetings to ensure manufacturing requirements are met, ultimately supporting delivery of business KPIs
    • Aim at achieving weekly scheduling reliability above 95%
  • Roasting Tasks:
    • Operate roasting equipment at the Grinders Fairfield site, contributing to the delivery of the Roasting production schedule within required timelines
    • Accurately record Roasting and Packing production orders within SAP in a timely manner to ensure reconciliation of physical and logical inventory
    • Actively monitor traceability records with labelling systems, including batch number system
  • Packing Tasks:
    • Actively support the Packing operator (Packing Team Lead) with the delivery of the Packing production schedule within the required timelines
    • Support packaging and product changeovers
    • Operate the grind mill, ensuring correct grind size of ground coffee when in use
  • Health and Safety:
    • Follow safe work procedures and contribute to continuous improvements by identifying, controlling, and reporting OHS hazards
    • Maintain a supportive environment for team members to raise concerns and be involved in improving health and safety
    • Assist in risk assessment of workplace hazards when requested
  • Quality:
    • Ensure the production process delivers first-time quality outcomes
    • Highlight improvement opportunities to reduce waste
    • Perform in-line quality checks

  • Previous experience in operating high-speed manufacturing machinery
  • Experience in manufacturing using PLC systems
  • High problem-solving ability and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Flexibility to work day, evening, and Saturday shifts on a rotating roster
  • Great communication skills
