Heavy Equipment Technician Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on heavy materials handling equipment, including forklifts, reach stackers, and cranes.

About the Job

  • Perform scheduled servicing, auditing, and statutory checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met
  • Conduct component change outs, preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and equipment upgrades to extend the lifespan of equipment
  • Diagnose and repair breakdowns, faults, and problems with equipment in a timely manner
  • Work on a variety of heavy materials handling equipment, including heavy forklifts, container handlers, reach stackers, terminal tractors, and other machines

Requirements

  • A qualification in diesel mechanics and relevant experience working on heavy vehicles or earthmoving equipment is essential
  • Strong customer service skills and an excellent attitude towards work are required
  • The ability to work autonomously in the field, attending breakdowns and problem-solving jobs as needed
