Biological Sciences Research Specialist

Job Summary
This is a full-time position at a leading institution, providing opportunities to master histopathology techniques and immunohistochemistry in a wide variety of tissue samples.
The Role:
- Create superior quality tissue sections for timely diagnosis, adhering to Good Laboratory Practice policies.
- Perform manual immunohistochemistry and special staining techniques to support research and diagnostic outcomes.
- Maintain equipment, manage chemical inventory, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate on research projects, modify techniques as needed, and provide training to students and staff.
- Contribute to the maintenance of extensive anatomic pathology archives, including tissue blocks, slides, and records.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant current vaccination status such as Tetanus, Hepatitis A and B and Q fever and other zoonotic diseases.
- Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in biological sciences (e.g. Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine).
- Experience in histological techniques in a diagnostic or research setting.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations in laboratory settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
