Operational Capability Specialist

This role involves coordinating the management of specialized equipment, engaging with brigades to deliver relevant education, and maintaining accurate inventory lists. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of emergency preparedness and response support.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Management: Coordinate the issuing, servicing, testing, and unplanned maintenance of specialized equipment, ensuring alignment with departmental procedures.
  • Education Delivery: Engage with brigades to coordinate, deliver, or facilitate all equipment-related education, including delivery of new asset induction.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory lists for effective equipment management, monitor usage for compliance to asset operating standards and policy, and provide input into equipment specification requirements.
  • Liaison and Advice: Liaise with external agencies related to equipment maintenance, such as manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers, to ensure emergency preparedness and response support.
Requirements:
  • The successful candidate must meet the mandatory requirements and attributes outlined in the generic Rural Officer Two (RFSO2) role description.
  • A strong understanding of working with volunteers and/or within a volunteer organization is essential.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining bushfire competencies and operating in a team environment.
  • Ability to participate in out-of-hours shift rosters during disaster operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of managing rural fire services, particularly in a volunteer environment, and ability to provide operational leadership at emergency situations utilizing AIIMS/IMS methodology.
