Operational Capability Coordinator Role Overview

The Operational Capability Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the development of operational capability related to specialized equipment usage and management within rural fire service districts.

This position is responsible for coordinating the issuance, servicing, testing, and unplanned maintenance of specialized equipment such as P3 masks, gas detectors, radios, and tablets. The successful applicant will engage with brigades to coordinate deliver and/or facilitate all equipment relevant education including delivery of new asset induction to brigades before the operational use of asset can be performed.

Maintaining accurate inventory lists for effective management of equipment monitoring equipment usage for compliance to asset operating standards and policy and providing district input into equipment specification requirements to ensure local needs are met is also a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the issuance servicing testing and unplanned maintenance of specialized equipment.
  • Engage with brigades to coordinate deliver and/or facilitate equipment-related education.
  • Maintain accurate inventory lists for effective equipment management.
  • Monitor equipment usage for compliance to asset operating standards and policy.
  • Provide district input into equipment specification requirements.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of or experience working with volunteers and/or within a volunteer organization as well as the ability to meet the attributes of the generic RFSO2 role description applicants must also be willing to participate in out-of-hours shift rosters during disaster operations.

Rural Officer One (RFSO1) or applicants with equivalent industry experience appropriate skills and knowledge are encouraged to apply volunteers and external parties with appropriate skills are highly encouraged to apply noting that they may be asked to provide additional information to satisfy internal policies.

This is a day work position yet may require flexible hours of work to meet functional demands including working at night on weekends as part of the role.
