Safety and Compliance Manager

The Safety, Risk and Audit Manager is a critical position responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Aviation Academy's safety management system (SMS) and risk management framework. This role also involves conducting audits and investigations, providing expert advice, and ensuring aviation projects align with the University's strategic direction.
This position requires a strong understanding of safety management systems, aviation accident/incident investigation, and human factors. The successful candidate will have experience in planning and implementing quality, safety, and risk management systems, as well as the ability to adapt to changing regulatory frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of managing compliance and regulatory requirements, including those of external regulators such as CASA. They will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and develop relationships that support business outcomes.
This is a full-time, continuing position with a salary level of HEW 9 ($124,474 - $133,367) + 17% Superannuation. The role is based at the Point Cook (Victoria) campus.
About the Aviation AcademyThe RMIT Aviation Academy has trained over 3,000 pilots from around the world and has a strong reputation for producing graduates who go on to work in the aviation industry. The Academy has world-class flight training facilities and a supportive environment that develops the necessary skills for a Recreational, Private, and Commercial Pilot Licence and/or an Associate Degree in Aviation.
