Family Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Family Support Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will undertake comprehensive assessments of family strengths and needs, identify appropriate referral pathways, and follow up with services to ensure successful engagement.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of families' strengths and needs, identifying their main goals.
  • Determine and implement appropriate referrals based on the goals; and follow up with services to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Assess and manage child protection risks for families, providing effective solutions and support.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in the community, building strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and related tasks, ensuring seamless service delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant degree qualification in a related field, such as social work or psychology.
  • 12 months experience working with at-risk children, young people, and/or families in a child protection-focused role, with a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes.
  • An excellent understanding of child protection issues, including vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health concerns, and trauma.
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to use technology effectively in service delivery.
  • The ability to work unsupervised and independently, making sound decisions and taking initiative when required.
  • A current driver's license, enabling you to travel to various locations as needed.
