About the Role:

  • Support individuals who are navigating their mental health journeys by drawing from personal experiences of recovery and challenges.
  • Guide consumers in defining their mental health experiences, narratives, and identities.
  • Work towards increasing cultural safety for diverse consumers within the mental health care system.
  • Assist consumers in articulating their needs, goals, and preferred support methods, and advocate for these to be included in care planning and service delivery.

About You:

  • Skillfully build relationships with consumers and model relatable recovery pathways.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of mental health challenges and recovery processes.
  • Develop an awareness of the complexities associated with acute mental illness and its implications on personal recovery.

About Us:

  • The Margaret Tobin Centre is a 38-bed mental health inpatient area consisting of an 8-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and two Acute Care Units admitting up to 30 consumers.
  • This role involves managing, coordinating, and leading nursing teams and/or multi-disciplinary activities to ensure continuity and quality of patient/client care and outcomes.

  • Provide individualized guidance and support to consumers.
  • Facilitate a culturally safe environment for diverse consumers.
  • Advocate for consumer needs and goals in care planning.
  • Ensure high-quality patient/client care and outcomes through effective team management.
