About the Opportunity

Mott MacDonald, a dynamic and innovative engineering consultancy, seeks an experienced Environmental Principal/Technical Director to join our team in Melbourne. As part of our growing Environment and Society team in Victoria, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including energy, transport, defence, and water sectors.

This role is integral to our multidisciplinary teams, managing and executing environmental strategies, reporting, planning approvals, impact assessments, and related technical studies for large infrastructure projects. You will provide senior technical support for Projects in relation to environmental compliance and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Project Management: Manage and/or contribute to the delivery of environmental strategy, reporting, planning approvals, impact assessments, and related technical studies.
  • Business Development: Identify new project opportunities, develop and maintain strong client relationships, and support the development of proposals and bid submissions.
  • Team Leadership and Mentoring: Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the environment team, manage and/or liaise with environment consultants and other planning consultants, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements

We are looking for an individual with extensive experience leading environment and planning teams, with deep connections working in consulting. You should have the ability to influence and develop strong relationships with our key clients in providing environment and sustainability strategy with the delivery of major infrastructure projects.

  • Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, or planning.
  • Experience in environmental management, approvals, impact assessments, risk assessments, etc.
  • In-depth understanding of Victorian and Commonwealth environment and planning legislation.
  • Environment and planning project management or project coordination experience.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment at a leadership level.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes life insurance, salary continuance insurance, and additional annual leave options.
