Job Description

The Department of Children and Families provides responsive, safe and quality services and programs that empower communities and improve social outcomes for all Territorians.

A frontline practitioner will form part of a dedicated team delivering integrated statutory and non-statutory welfare services to vulnerable children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing individual, family and community issues
  • Applying appropriate methods of intervention
  • Delivering case work and case management services
  • Undertaking statutory responsibilities under the Care and Protection of Children Act

Requirements:

  • Completed tertiary qualification giving eligibility for membership of relevant professional associations
  • Strong understanding of principles and functions of delivering welfare services
  • Ability to conduct assessments, develop interventions and interpret complex legislation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner
