We are seeking a Homeless Engagement Professional to join our team.

Job Description

The role of the Homeless Engagement Professional is to provide support and guidance to individuals and families at risk of homelessness. This will involve assessing clients' needs, creating case plans to secure more suitable housing, and providing ongoing support throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide case management for young people, families and individuals at risk of homelessness
  • Advocate for clients within the housing system, including assisting with forms, tenancy support, and navigating complex processes
  • Link clients to appropriate services and support to address their broader needs
  • Provide education to clients around homelessness prevention, budgeting and related topics
  • Negotiate and work closely with housing services, utility companies and landlords
  • Provide tailored support to vulnerable clients in need of safe housing, including those experiencing Domestic and Family Violence
  • Collaborate with DCJ Housing, community hubs, and partner services
  • Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and monthly reporting in line with organisational standards
Requirements
  • Experience managing a caseload autonomously and providing tailored support to clients navigating complex housing or social service systems
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and existing networks within the local community
  • Strong ability to advocate for clients, particularly women, children, and young people
  • Trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to client engagement
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, including report writing and verbal advocacy
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain professional boundaries while delivering high-quality client support
  • Familiarity with CIMS (Client Information Management System) is a bonus
  • Relevant qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field
