The role of Electrical Section Manager involves overseeing the growth, operations and technical leadership of a team responsible for electrical design, staff development and workload management. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with strong communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish relationships with clients and engage in marketing activities to promote business development.
  • Manage technical and operational activities related to the electrical discipline.
  • Contribute to conceptual thinking and collaborate with designers at project inception to inform design intent.
  • Prepare and review project budgets and scopes for the electrical discipline, as well as monitor financial performance.
  • Schedule and coordinate work performed within the electrical discipline.
  • Assign tasks and projects to team members and establish priorities.
  • Monitor scope of work and changes.
  • Foster collaboration with other discipline groups.
  • Participate in interviews to support hiring new staff and provide mentoring.
  • Set employee goals and conduct performance reviews.
  • Organize section meetings to discuss productivity, workload and quality control issues.
  • Develop personnel skills through training, education and experience.
  • Collaborate with electrical managers from other locations to review workload, project status and staffing requirements.
  • Prepare and review electrical engineering scope of work and fees for proposals.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards and practices and communicate them to staff.
  • Implement necessary changes to electrical design standards, procedures and deliverables.
  • Perform quality control reviews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in electrical design, preferably in a consulting firm.
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
