About the Role

The Director Mental Health provides strategic leadership and direction for mental health services across the Western Australian public health system.

This includes developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to improve mental health outcomes, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring effective resource management.

The role requires collaboration with Health Service Providers, the Mental Health Commission, and government agencies to drive mental health reform initiatives and ensure high-quality services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing mental health policies and guidelines
  • Coordinating with Health Service Providers and government agencies
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders
  • Evaluating mental health services and identifying areas for improvement
Key Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of mental health policy, and experience working with government agencies and healthcare providers.

You will also need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, or public health would be highly regarded.
