
Family Counsellor Specialist

This is a part-time 0.6 FTE fixed term position based in Mildura with outreach to Swan Hill.
The successful candidate will have lived experience of the LGBTIQA+ community and/or previous experience in this field. They will provide counselling to LGBTIQA+ people and their families/support networks, as well as secondary consultation to other relevant community-based services across the state.
The key outcomes sought are:
- Improving the safety, security and mental health and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people.
- Improving family relationships, community connections, cohesion, and support.
- Working with other service providers to ensure there is an integrated provision of services and equity of access to services.
- Building LGBTIQA+ awareness and capacity within the local community.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional who has a passion for supporting vulnerable populations.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who can work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
In addition, you will have a high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and cultural competence.
You will also have the ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
