We are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects.

Job Summary:

This role involves leading design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project, or staff group, including the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings, and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways, railroads, etc.
  • Participate in the design, development, and modification of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides
  • Design structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
  • Determine the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
  • Originate and check structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
  • Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas, and possible solutions
  • Analyze and report on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
  • Complete Civil/Structural documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
  • Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in the mining and metals industry, including the design of materials handling systems, process plants, and/or non-process infrastructure
  • In-depth knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures, and codes relevant to civil discipline
