Job Overview:

As a key member of the team, you will oversee the planning, design, and delivery of bridge maintenance projects across Scotland.

The role involves managing a small design team, sub-consultants, and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes. You will be responsible for technical approval and design certification, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design process, including the development of detailed designs and specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Oversee the preparation of tender documents and pre-construction information packages, facilitating effective communication with clients and contractors.
  • Evaluate tenders and assist in contract award, ensuring the selection of suitable service providers.
  • Manage internal financial performance, tracking expenses and revenues to optimize project profitability.
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures, ensuring seamless integration with the company's Integrated Management Systems.
  • Liaise with clients, auditors, and other stakeholders to address queries and concerns.
  • Coordinate the production, issue, and archiving of all drawings, documents, and scheme files.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree-level education in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Prior experience in designing and maintaining highway bridge structures.
  • Professional qualifications and membership of an appropriate professional body (IEng / CEng and MICE, MIStructE, IHE etc).
  • A valid UK driving license.
  • Proven track record in project management and team leadership.
