Job Description

This role is a new position designed to support the Manager of Communications in sharing the message of the Archbishop and the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth.

About the Role

The Strategic Communications Specialist will be responsible for providing advice and direct support to stakeholders across the Archdiocese on communications strategies and campaigns. This includes developing content for the Archdiocesan websites and other platforms used by internal and external audiences.

  • Triage & Operations: Triage a high-volume of tasks and support the office's operational needs.
  • Content Creation & Management: Prepare and develop communications content for high-level campaigns and strategies.
  • Advisory & Strategy: Provide advice and direct support to parishes, agencies and offices on communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Content Production: Utilise intermediate knowledge of digital photography and videography for content development and post-production.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Collaborate with internal team members and external professionals to support the Office of Communications.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled professional with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism.
  • Minimum five years' experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Intermediate skills in social media and newsletter systems like Mailchimp.
  • Experience using a DSLR camera for both photography and videography.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to work with individuals at varying levels of understanding and experience.
