Dedicated Litigation Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced litigator to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will specialise in defendant institutional tort claims and play a crucial role in providing legal support and representation to clients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure and relevant legislation. They will also possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, and a high degree of initiative, dedication and organisation ability.
The selected individual will be responsible for managing a caseload of defendant institutional tort claims from inception to resolution. This will involve conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and preparing various legal documents. They will also analyse complex legal issues, review case material, gather evidence and assess liability and damages.
The candidate will collaborate with senior lawyers to develop and execute defence strategies. They will attend negotiations, mediations and court proceedings, and provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to clients throughout the litigation process.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files is essential, ensuring compliance with client service standards. Staying up to date with relevant legal developments and changes in legislation pertaining to institutional abuse claims is also critical.
Required Skills and Qualifications- A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current New South Wales practising certificate.
- Minimum 1 year's post-admission experience in general insurance matters.
- Strong knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure and relevant legislation.
- Confidence to deal directly with clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with experts in multiple fields.
- High degree of initiative, dedication and organisation ability with a strong client and commercial focus.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and work to tight deadlines.
- A commercial approach and ability to articulate and negotiate effectively.
