  • The ideal candidate will contribute to the effective operation of facilities by providing high-quality cleanliness. They will work within a team to create a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. The cleaner will perform tasks outlined in the key accountabilities section above, ensuring a commitment to safe operating procedures.
  2. They will liaise with the principal to report security, safety, or damage concerns, eliminating or minimizing hazards.
  3. The cleaner will order supplies and receive deliveries, as well as distribute and maintain cleaning materials in buildings and establishments.
  4. Carpet cleaning involves operating equipment used in powder systems, liquid shampoo systems, hot water injection, and extraction systems (commonly called "steam cleaning").
  5. Cleaning windows on multi-storied buildings requires using swinging scaffolds, hydraulic bucket trucks, or similar devices.
  6. Operating Ride-On powered sweeping machines ensures a commitment to safe operating procedures.
  7. Steam cleaning and pressure washing equipment are used on the exterior of buildings.

Selection Criteria:

  • The successful candidate must have a current Working with Children Suitability Card or be eligible to obtain one. A paid Blue Card is required before commencement, as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville is essential.
  • The candidate must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role safely.
  • Hepatitis A & B Vaccinations are necessary.
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19 is also required.
