About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy and Project Officer to join our team at the University of South Australia. As a key member of our Student and Academic Services unit, you will play a critical role in driving projects that improve student and academic administration practices.

Reporting to the Manager: Programs and Academic Policy, you will be responsible for benchmarking and conducting new or existing policy reviews, liaising with areas across the university to operationalise policy initiatives.

About You

We are looking for someone with exceptional critical analysis skills, who can communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You will have a strong understanding of higher education policies and regulations, and be able to interpret and clarify policies with ease.

You will be a dedicated and autonomous individual, able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals. You will have a strong commitment to continuous improvement and be able to manage tight deadlines.

About the Unit

Student and Academic Services (SAS) provides senior leadership in student and academic administration in a distributed service environment. We are responsible for the development and maintenance of policy, information systems and procedural frameworks.

We coordinate and provide quality assurance for a number of University functions, including student admissions, enrolments, examinations, graduations, student finance and scholarships.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • High level of interpersonal skills, oral and written, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and negotiate with staff and managers at all levels.
  • Detailed experience in policy development and an understanding of government higher education policies and activities.
  • Experience in research, analysis, writing and interpretation of policies, regulations and guidelines.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in an evolving customer service culture and working collaboratively in a team-based work environment.
