The Poultry Caretaker/Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in the daily operations of the farm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining multiple locations across the farm to ensure optimal livestock management.
  • Providing immediate support for urgent livestock alarms and breakdowns, ensuring business continuity.
  • Conducting regular animal welfare checks and maintaining accurate records to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with the livestock batch management plan to achieve productivity goals.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and condition of poultry sheds, equipment, and farm sites to prevent downtime.
  • Safeguarding the sites from unauthorized access and ensuring they are presentable at all times.
  • Performing technical and mechanical maintenance on equipment and addressing issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Establishing and maintaining a schedule for preventive maintenance to reduce the risk of equipment failure.
  • Coordinating with contractors and suppliers as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
  • Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS) to protect employees and maintain quality standards.

This position requires:

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including mornings, afternoons, and occasional nights to meet operational needs.
  • A basic understanding of mechanics, electrical systems, and computers to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • A valid driver's license to transport personnel and equipment safely.
  • A valid forklift license to operate heavy machinery efficiently.
  • A valid HR license (preferred) to handle employee-related matters effectively.
  • A strong commitment to safety for oneself and others to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Loyalty, trustworthiness, and high integrity to build trust within the team.
  • Good overall health and physical condition to perform the demands of the job.

The position includes on-site accommodation with reduced rent, and a company vehicle to facilitate travel.
