Overview

Animal Care Lead Technician position based in Girgarre, Victoria. This is a permanent full-time role reporting to the Site Leaders with our Australian-owned farm network.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Animal Care Lead Technician to join our team. Our Australian owned farm is continuously growing, therefore opening pathways for future opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Supervise a small team of Animal Care Technicians; promote safety within the team; lead team talks; complete orientation and training of new Animal Care Technicians.
  • Livestock Care: Tend to routine animal husbandry; clean and maintain accommodation pens, fittings and equipment; handle and use chemicals; operate machinery and equipment; provide feed and water stock; care for sick or injured stock and maintain herd health status at an acceptable level.
  • Livestock Analysis, Research & Advice: Maintain standards of quality; inspect effectiveness of feed formulae; assist in controlled breeding to develop improved livestock strains; arrange the supply of drugs, vaccines and other chemicals; advise on aspects of production processes and farming techniques.
Requirements
  • Minimum two years' experience within a similar role in Piggery operations; experience supervising a small team.
  • Demonstrated experience in pig production; high level of understanding of herd health factors.
  • Competent knowledge of APIQ & Welfare Standards; strong communication skills.
