About the RoleThis fixed-term temporary full-time opportunity supports Community and Oral Health in promoting and implementing community engagement programs with targeted culturally appropriate and safe content and engagement activities. As a Cultural Capability Officer, you will support the development of education and training packages to educate Community and Oral Health staff on culturally appropriate care pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
About You- You will support and provide input into Community and Oral Health action response towards Health Equity and improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- You will advise, educate, train, and support staff to ensure services are aware of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols when engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- You will develop, implement, and evaluate effective culturally appropriate education and training packages.
- You will support staff in implementing and providing culturally appropriate and equitable care pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
All Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS).
The role actively supports the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; increased access to healthcare; influencing the social, cultural, and economic determinants of health; delivering sustainable, culturally safe, and responsive health services; and recognising the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations.
