Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cultural Liaison Specialist to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to case management activities and enhance cultural competency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to case management activities by supporting and liaising with Community Corrections staff.
  • Work with Case Managers to identify and build their cultural connections in the community.
  • Ensure timely provision of services and advice to Courts, Parole Board, and other agencies regarding supervised individuals.
  • Develop connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to work collaboratively with Case Managers if issues arise.
  • Work with key personnel to source and develop brief interventions to support meaningful client interactions.
  • Support Community Corrections staff to work in a culturally competent way with family members.
  • Link those on Orders with services and programs to assist them to live a life away from crime.
  • Support Program Delivery Officers to facilitate programs that help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals reintegrate into their communities.
  • Initiate, encourage and facilitate greater engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community groups.
  • Assist Community Corrections staff to access culturally relevant information.
Requirements:
  • This is a targeted recruitment process open only to male applicants of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Working Environment:

The High Risk Offender Management Unit based in Brisbane and Townsville regions is responsible for the supervision of offenders subject to a supervision order under the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 residing throughout Queensland.
