Inspector Detention Operations Specialist

About the Role
The Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Inspector Detention Operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of our Immigration Detention Facilities (IDFs) and ensuring the security, safety, and welfare of detainees, contractors, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply legislation, policy, and contractual obligations to ensure compliance and effective service delivery.
- Command immigration detention operational activities, ensuring the safety and security of all individuals within the facility.
- Work safely in an immigration detention environment, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
- Oversee immigration detention service delivery, ensuring high-quality services are provided to detainees.
- Manage immigration detention logistics, including the coordination of resources and personnel.
- Manage immigration detention intelligence activities, ensuring the collection and analysis of relevant information.
- Manage an immigration detention facility, ensuring the effective management of resources and personnel.
Requirements
- Effectively communicate, liaise, negotiate, and maintain collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate resilience and self-awareness, including knowledge of personal limitations and stress factors, working in a high-risk environment.
- Be agile and flexible to new or evolving scenarios and changing priorities.
- Display integrity and high ethical standards with a commitment to building an inclusive workplace while fostering a positive, energetic, and supportive work culture.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian citizen. You will also be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
