The main goal of this position is to provide operational support to the Train Driver, ensuring safe and efficient train operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply safety guidelines and regulations to assist with rail operations
- Identify and respond correctly to signals and signs
- Process work-related documents
- Implement emergency procedures in case of accidents
- Follow occupational health and safety procedures
- Shift materials safely using manual handling methods
- Apply fatigue management strategies
- Shunt rolling stock
- Participate in basic workplace communication
- Secure cargo
- Conduct a train roll-by inspection
- Assist in meeting train operation requirements in a timely, safe, efficient and punctual manner
- Participate in training, briefing sessions and toolbox talks associated with safe and efficient train operations
- Meet QLRS hazard and near miss reporting requirements
- Comply with procedures, work instructions, operating protocols and rules to facilitate safe and efficient train operations
About You:
- You will ideally bring the following;
- Availability to work across a 24/7 shift work roster
- Technical or trade background - preferred but not essential
- Recent drivers licence history required
- Ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously as part of a team
- Capacity to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a demanding environment
- Clear, concise and accurate verbal and written communication skills
- Good physical fitness and general health
