Research Grant Specialist: Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support and training to researchers, as well as conducting compliance and reporting across a range of obligations. This includes managing and coordinating the activities of the Portfolio Office, providing operational leadership and financial management oversight of the Portfolio's budget.

You will also be working closely with internal and external partners to identify, attract and manage funding from competitive and commercial sources, as well as managing the University's research management platforms and coordinating internal and external research reporting.

Key qualifications include education, training and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with at least six (6) years' experience in research administration, particularly pre-award research grant administration, at scale, in a university research office or similar environment.

  • Postgraduate qualifications with significant experience in research administration, including pre-award research grant administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national policies and funding issues relating to research grants and contracts administration.
  • Evidence of excellent written communication skills, including correspondence with researchers and external clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contractual issues relevant for research contracts, including intellectual property.
  • High level oral and interpersonal communication skills, effective communication with staff at all levels, negotiation with external clients and stakeholders.
