Description of Job:

Disability Support Workers provide empathetic support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their daily activities, promoting self-reliance, confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide individualized support to clients with ASD in their daily routines, fostering a sense of autonomy and enhancing quality of life.
- Develop and implement personalized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs and goals, ensuring optimal outcomes and progress tracking.
- Assist clients in engaging with their community through social participation and recreational activities, promoting social connections and active involvement.
- Utilize effective strategies to manage challenging behaviour, prioritizing the safety and well-being of clients while maintaining a calm and composed environment.
- Collaborate closely with family members, therapists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and address any emerging concerns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of client progress, identifying areas of improvement and celebrating successes along the way.

Qualifications & Experiences:

- A Certificate III or IV in Disability Care or a related field is highly desirable, alongside equivalent life experience and skills.
- Previous experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder is essential, showcasing knowledge of supporting strategies and adapting to diverse needs.
- Current first aid and CPR training is mandatory, ensuring immediate response to emergencies and safeguarding client health.
- Working with Children Check, National Police Check and valid driver's license are also required, demonstrating commitment to public safety and accountability.

- Strong understanding and empathy for individuals with ASD, coupled with adaptability and flexibility in work arrangements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, facilitating seamless collaboration and resolution of conflicts.
