Maintenance Manager Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep of our facilities and grounds. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines trade expertise with team coordination and strategic asset management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team, contractors, and external trades.
  • Develop and manage the site's maintenance schedules and preventative programs.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS regulations, aged care standards, and organisational policies.
  • Monitor maintenance budgets and contribute to strategic planning for capital works and asset upgrades.
Facilities & Grounds Maintenance:
  • Oversee the upkeep of buildings, plant, and equipment to ensure optimal function and safety.
  • Coordinate and conduct general repairs, preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure timely and effective response to maintenance requests and safety concerns.
  • Maintain the health and appearance of lawns, gardens, and outdoor areas.
Tool, Asset, and Compliance Management:
  • Maintain an accurate asset register and ensure all maintenance documentation is up to date.
  • Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of tools, machinery, and hazardous substances.
  • Lead preparation for accreditation and audits relating to facilities and infrastructure.
Team Collaboration & Communication:
  • Foster a culture of safety, respect, and teamwork within the maintenance team.
  • Liaise with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Promote the role and function of the organisation within the local community, residents, and families.

This role requires a trade qualification or extensive experience in a similar facilities management role, as well as proven leadership and team coordination experience. The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of building compliance, WHS, and asset management, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Sound understanding of building compliance, WHS, and asset management
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks and safely operate tools and machinery
  • Current driver's licence
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer literacy (email, asset systems, maintenance logs)
  • Understanding of Aged Care Quality Standards (desirable)
