Melbourne, Victoria, Australia beBeeEnergyTransition Full time $150,000 - $200,000
Unlock Energy Transition Opportunities

As a seasoned Senior Manager in our Energy Lead Advisory team, you will collaborate with energy project developers, investors, financiers, innovators, and key public sector stakeholders to capitalize on growth prospects and deliver impactful mergers and acquisitions solutions that drive the transition to a sustainable future.

You will play a pivotal role in:

  • Origination work including client relationship development and prospecting new business opportunities.
  • Identifying key value drivers and risk mitigation strategies, challenging assumptions about prices, asset performance, and portfolio construction.
  • Leading the execution of transactions through the lifecycle, encompassing financial modelling, diligence, financing, and transaction negotiation.
  • Providing seamless integrated experiences for clients throughout the growth and optimization M&A journey alongside other advisory services.

Our focus spans various segments of the energy sector, including renewable energy generation, storage, transmission build out, and optimisation strategies for infrastructure investors, developers, and utilities across the mid-market and majors.

This is a hybrid position based in Melbourne or Sydney, offering a unique blend of transformative strategy, transactions leadership, tax expertise, and corporate finance capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative strategies for energy sector M&A transactions that align with client objectives while responding to evolving market conditions.
  • Manage engagement teams to undertake the acquisition or disposal of energy projects, portfolios, or businesses working with integrated developers, infrastructure, and private equity investors, financiers, and strategic corporate buyers.
  • Collaboratively coordinate and lead execution aspects of energy M&A transactions, encompassing origination ideas and proposals, crafting bid strategy and documentation, managing due diligence processes, performing valuation assessments, undertaking capital structuring, and managing transactions through negotiation to completion.
  • Provide expert advice on regulatory compliance issues specific to the energy sector, underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of the intersection of public and private sector organizations undertaking projects and programs in the energy transition.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed investment materials, supporting financial analyses and models that assist clients in their decision-making processes.
  • Identify critical issues impacting purchase price negotiations and deal structuring efforts, including a fundamental understanding of risk and value, with a demonstrable ability to assist clients in proactive risk management.
  • Project manage teams effectively, overseeing information flows among key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to business plan initiatives (e.g., key accounts development) by building strong client relationships while demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of their operations.
  • Understand our firm's capabilities thoroughly, seeking opportunities to offer additional services tailored to client needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a transaction role within an advisory environment, adept at working independently as well as collaboratively with senior stakeholders across multiple engagements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in M&A, project and corporate finance structuring, with a deep knowledge of the energy market fundamentals, relevant technologies, supply chains, public policy implications, and general project development challenges and opportunities.
  • A strong desire to make a difference in decarbonising our economy, with evident passion for the energy sector.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, engineering, and/or law is preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, coupled with adaptability towards new challenges within a collaborative team setting: resilient and creative thinking is key to overcoming hurdles to get deals over the finishing line.
  • Proficiency in assignment delivery—including requirements gathering—and presentation of results reflecting high-quality standards.
  • Competence in risk management practices ensuring quality assurance throughout project execution.
Benefits

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and rapidly evolving industry, with access to cutting-edge technology and expertise. You will be part of a collaborative team, working closely with senior stakeholders and clients to deliver impactful results.
