About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Department Champion to join our team at Bernardi's Supermarket. As a key member of our store operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day functions of your assigned department are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain high standards of visual presentation and store standards to maximize sales
  • Ensure the execution of promotions and marketing plans
  • Oversee inventory management, including stocktaking and ordering
  • Provide outstanding customer service standards
  • Ensure quality and safety duties, including receiving, inspecting, and storing of product, while maintaining date and rotation of products
  • Assist the Assistant Store Manager with profit and loss management, including sales, gross profit, and shrinkage budgets/targets
  • Assist the Assistant Store Manager with personnel cost management, including rostering
  • Assist the Assistant Store Manager in leading and providing ongoing support, training, and development for your team, including performance management
  • Assist the Assistant Store Manager with safety and compliance management, including participation in department audits
  • Assist the Assistant Store Manager in ensuring accuracy of purchase orders and invoices, including placing of claims
  • Be aware of and follow all Company's procedures and policies
  • Possible use of cash registers at times
  • Effective communication to ensure good relationships with the Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, Team Members, Contractors, and Suppliers
  • Ensure a happy workplace where people love to come and work
Requirements
  • Well-presented and professional with excellent communication skills and an extrovert persona
  • Customer service-focused
  • Understanding of supermarket best practice
  • Enthusiasm to work within a team environment
Qualifications and Work Skill Requirements
  • Retail Management Certificates or retail experience
  • Exposure to retail grocery department
  • Some knowledge of purchasing, ranging, and merchandising of Dept to drive sales
  • Some knowledge in the management of wages, gross profit, and waste control
  • Demonstrated high level in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated willingness to lead, manage, and coach team members
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and execute given routines/task list, standards, and processes
  • Intermediate computer skills
