Child Protection Specialist

Position Overview: The Child Safety Officer plays a crucial role in safeguarding the welfare, belonging, and overall wellbeing of children and adolescents involved in the child protection system. This position entails the provision of essential statutory child protection services, including evaluation, intervention, casework, and management, in alignment with relevant legislation and practice guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver Integrated Services: Provide accountable and collaborative child protection services for intricate cases, ensuring respect for the cultural and contextual backgrounds of each child, young person, family, and community, in accordance with departmental policies and statutory obligations.
- Engage in Multi-Disciplinary Practice: Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, which may include representatives from various agencies, to conduct high-quality, strengths-based child protection practices encompassing assessment, intervention, casework, and complex case management.
- Build Professional Relationships: Actively participate as a team member to establish culturally appropriate and professional relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, including children, young people, families, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), and other service providers.
- Promote Quality Service Delivery: Foster a culture of excellence in frontline service delivery through collaboration, commitment, and adherence to professional ethics.
- Maintain Case Records: Ensure the maintenance of high-quality case documentation in compliance with departmental case management standards.
- Commit to Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing professional development and training to keep practice knowledge and skills current and evidence-based.
- Contribute to Quality Improvement: Participate in strategies aimed at continuous quality enhancement.
- Mentor New Officers: Utilize professional experience in relevant child protection fields to coach and mentor new and less experienced Child Safety Officers, aiding in their skill and knowledge development.
