Leading Hands play a pivotal role in any workshop, ensuring that technicians are motivated and skilled to perform at their best. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic with strong leadership skills to join our team in Launceston.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring, leading and directing others to succeed. If you have a passion for problem-solving and are able to work independently, we want to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be highly self-motivated and have the ability to resolve complex issues. Experience in maintenance, servicing and repairs of heavy vehicles is essential, as well as knowledge of electrical diagnostics and repairs. A high level of analytical and problem-solving skills will also be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and lead the workshop team to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to excel in their roles
  • Diagnose, service and repair equipment to meet customer expectations
  • Assist the service manager with job costing, quotations and retail repairs
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and customer service at all times
Requirements
  • Australian recognised Heavy Diesel Motor mechanic trade certificate
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work without direct supervision
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Good computer skills with standard PC programs and equipment diagnostic tools
  • Experience in maintenance, servicing, repairs and rebuilds of heavy vehicles
  • Experience with electrical diagnostics and repairs (desirable)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-focused approach
