Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Air Traffic Services Technical Team Lead to join our team in Richmond, NSW. As a key member of our Communications sub-function, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of aircraft through our restricted airspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a mixed team of military and civilian technicians, setting priorities, monitoring workflow and resources, and exercising associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes.
- Manage the operations and performance of Defence employees in accordance with legislation, APS and Defence policies and procedures.
- Use your initiative and experience to research, analyse, plan, review and adjust priorities and work activities to meet business outcomes.
- Provide detailed technical, professional and procedural advice in relation to complex technical communications activities.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify relevant expectations and develop clear understandings of methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.
- Contribute to ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
About the Role
This position works for the Flight Commander, leading the Maintenance team. The team maintains Communication and Navigation Systems (CNS) to provide Air Traffic Services (ATS) to aircraft utilising the Richmond restricted areas.

You'll also be eligible for an Individual Flexibility Arrangement, which allows Defence to provide additional remuneration to the base salary and/or variation of other conditions provided for in the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA).
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A strong background in technical communications or a related field.
- Proven leadership and management skills, including experience in leading teams and managing budgets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
Salary and Benefits
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from $91,702 to $104,753 per annum, plus IFA and up to 15.4% superannuation.
