About the Counselling Position

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to provide professional counselling services to students and staff.

The successful applicant will be responsible for addressing personal, academic, and psychosocial issues through a range of interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Diagnosis: The counsellor will assess and diagnose complex client presentations, providing ongoing care and support.
  • Counselling Services: Individual, couple, and group counselling will be provided using evidence-based psychotherapeutic skills and interventions.
  • Crisis Management: The counsellor will manage risk and crisis situations effectively.
  • Research and Reporting: Undertaking client-related research, report writing, and case consultation as required.
  • Maintenance and Liaison: Maintaining confidential clinical notes, case data entry, and reporting; maintaining liaison procedures with faculties, student representatives.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Assessment and Intervention: Demonstrates superior skills in assessing complex client presentations and providing effective interventions.
  2. Psycho-Social Assessment: Demonstrates ability to assess psycho-social problems/disorders and provide effective interventions.
  3. Risk and Crisis Management: Experience in managing risk and crisis situations.
  4. Registration: Registration as a Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker in NSW is essential.
