About the Role



The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Aboriginal Engagement Coordinator.



This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of the issues and needs of Aboriginal children, families and communities. The successful candidate will be responsible for empowering a cultural voice in student management and community partnerships at Halls Creek District High School.



Key responsibilities of the role include increasing school attendance and engagement of students and supporting the school to implement culturally responsive strategies to engage students in education.



The successful applicant will assist with the design of educational adjustments that improve attendance, classroom engagement and achievement of Aboriginal students and meet individual student needs.



They will also contribute to implementing strategic directions for Aboriginal education and effective community relationships that support the school's Cultural Program, meet the Department's Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and achieve the Department's goals in providing quality education, services and support.



The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of the issues and needs of Aboriginal children, families and communities and will be able to support Halls Creek District High School in implementing the Department of Education's strategic plan for Aboriginal engagement.



They will also have well-developed organisational, planning and program management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.



Additionally, the successful applicant will have well-developed conceptual and analytical skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships within and external to the Department, including with Aboriginal families and communities.

The selection process for this role will involve a review of applications, followed by an interview and assessment of the successful applicant's skills and experience.

Working Hours



The working hours for this role are 35 hours per week, with flexibility to work outside of these hours as required.
