Job Opportunity: Commercial Energy Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Energy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our commercial department, you will be responsible for leading customer engagement, optimising energy agreements, and unlocking new revenue opportunities across our asset base.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially savvy individual who can craft robust energy supply agreements that deliver value for our customers and stakeholders. If you have a proven track record in contract management, negotiation, and business development, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Engagement: Lead and manage NWIS commercial customer relationships and agreements, ensuring compliance with contestable market regulations.
  • Agreement Optimisation: Maximise value from existing assets through strategic advisory, contract development, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • New Business Development: Drive growth by originating and executing commercially robust Energy Supply Agreements (or equivalents).
  • Project Delivery: Own the journey from initial opportunity assessment through to customer negotiation and seamless handover to our Major Customer Accounts team.
Requirements:
  • Contract Management Expertise: Proven expertise in contract management and negotiation.
  • Commercial Acumen: Deep knowledge of commercial pricing, financial, and technical concepts.
  • Business Development Experience: Experience in business development, bid preparation, and pre-contract activities across multiple workstreams.
  • Drafting and Reviewing Contracts: Skilled in drafting and reviewing contracts, scopes of work, and variations to deliver commercially sound outcomes.
  • Communication Skills: Confident communicator with customer-facing experience and a knack for building strong relationships.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the contestable energy market and regulatory frameworks.
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications (or working towards) in Commerce, Business, Finance, or Law - or equivalent experience in the energy sector.
  • Industry Background: Background in mining, resources, or energy industries preferred.
