Speech Pathologist

We are seeking a skilled Speech Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary Allied Health team at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem. As a Speech Pathologist in our NDIS Provider Service, you will work closely with our team to provide home-based Speech Pathology support to individuals with progressive neurological diseases, including Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Huntington's disease.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive Speech Pathology support to individuals with progressive neurological diseases, including MND and Huntington's disease.
- Work closely with our NDIS Provider Service Allied Health Staff, Bethlehem clinical staff, and other external stakeholders to provide a collaborative service to participants and their families.
- Prescribe AAC (high and low tech) and write funding applications to optimize quality of life and function at home.
- Manage dysphagia, secretions, and communication, and work with the wider team to achieve participant goals.
- Membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
- NDIS Worker Check required.
- Current driving license.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in progressive neurological disease management, including MND and Huntington's disease.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and expertise in NDIS funding processes and report writing.
- Dysphagia management experience is essential.
- Experience with AAC and multi-modal communication is desirable.
Calvary Health Care Bethlehem is a 32-bed public hospital and healthcare facility providing a range of inpatient, community, and ambulatory services for palliative care and progressive neurological conditions. We are an NDIS service provider and are located centrally in metropolitan Melbourne at our new state-of-the-art hospital and healthcare precinct in Caulfield.
Vaccination against COVID-19 is a mandatory requirement for healthcare workers in Victoria, and all employees at Calvary Health Care must provide evidence of vaccination.
All employees must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment when required, which at a minimum is a surgical mask. Additional PPE requirements are role-dependent.
