Job Title

We are seeking a Professional Officer to join our team in Cultural Heritage.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage the Cultural Heritage Node of Vibrational Spectroscopy and ensure research requirements are met effectively.
    • Manage and maintain portable instruments associated with cultural heritage, ensuring equipment is compliant with relevant University and legislative requirements.
    • Provide expert knowledge in high-end portable and benchtop techniques and analysis applicable to Cultural Heritage Research.
    • Ensure Workplace Health and Safety records are maintained as per the University's policy.
    • Ensure reporting and documentation requirements are met for portable instruments and experiments dealing with museum items.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive expertise with vibrational spectroscopic equipment, software, data processing and analysis.
  • Understanding of cultural sensitivities and human ethics approvals for studies on museum items.
  • Computer skills, particularly chemometric analysis.
  • Excellent time management and workload prioritization skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and awareness of sensitive information.
  • Experience working with heritage materials is required.
