
Park Asset Manager

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Field Officer to join our team at the National Parks and Wildlife Service. As a Field Officer, you will be responsible for assisting with construction, maintenance, and improvements to park assets within NPWS parks and reserves.
You will undertake pest, weed, and fire management activities, including those in remote areas, operate and maintain plant and equipment, and respond to visitor enquiries. Additionally, you will contribute to ensuring Environment and Heritage Group (EHG) obligations and aims are met through the enhancement and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage values of parks.
The successful candidate will have a strong passion for community and environment, a keen attention to detail, and be a strong decision-maker who can think on their feet. You will also require a current drivers license and ability to drive 4wd vehicles, as well as the ability to obtain certification in operating a chainsaw and two-way radio.
As a member of our team, you will work collaboratively with Aboriginal communities to manage and protect our parks on behalf of the people of NSW. We strive to create thriving environments, communities, and economies for the people of New South Wales.
Main Responsibilities:- Assist with construction, maintenance, and improvements to park assets
- Undertake pest, weed, and fire management activities
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment
- Respond to visitor enquiries
- Contribute to ensuring EHG obligations and aims are met
- Current Drivers Licence and ability to drive 4wd vehicles
- Ability to obtain and use MR Licence where appropriate
- Demonstrated ability and experience to carry out all duties safely and ability to obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification
- Certification, or ability to obtain certification within the probationary period, in operating a chainsaw to crosscut or basic tree felling standard; ability to operate two-way radio
- Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and support roles, including ability to obtain and maintain certification as crew member within the probationary period
