Education Support Specialist Role

This is an ongoing part-time position in a learning environment, providing assistance to educators and students. The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including aiding with lesson planning, facilitating communication between educators and parents, and offering basic care and wellbeing support for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aid educators with routine tasks, including assisting with lesson planning and coordinating educational programs
  • Facilitate effective communication between educators and parents, ensuring partnerships are maintained
  • Communicate with educators on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities
  • Provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, such as toileting, meals, and lifting
  • Communicate with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information
  • Address immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting, aligned to established policies and procedures
  • Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks
  2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
  3. Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including high-level oral and written communication skills
  4. Possess relevant technical knowledge and expertise
  5. Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management and other staff members
  6. A commitment to professional growth and development for both self and others
