This is a dynamic role within our team, focusing on clinical medicine, genomics, and computational biology. Our work relies heavily on genomics to better diagnose, predict, and treat disease.
We have key expertise in diseases of inflammation and blindness, where we perform high-quality genomic research to enable clinical impact. We are part of the Genomics and Inherited Disease Program, and the Centre for Population Genomics.
An opportunity is available for an outstanding scientist to lead significant projects and develop new skills in a supportive environment with a strong emphasis on scientific excellence and a focus on impactful questions.
This postdoctoral researcher position offers a competitive salary/package and investment into their leadership and professional development. They are expected to show scientific leadership within the themes of the host laboratory and may be provided with the opportunity to manage a small team, depending on experience.
They will also be eligible and encouraged to participate in short-term placements in other laboratories to gain expertise in new techniques, bring additional skills to the host laboratory or institution, and broaden their network.
We seek to see our discovery research achieve life-changing impacts, not only for individual patients with rare diseases but for the many thousands affected by complex, common disease.
- Perform independent research, including developing study hypotheses, designing and executing experiments and analyses, and preparing high-impact scientific manuscripts and presentations.
- Contribute to the development of research projects and collaborations, and prepare research grant proposals and progress reports.
- Co-supervise and mentor students and junior research staff.
A PhD in a relevant discipline, such as Genomics, Functional Genomics, Population Genomics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Statistical Genetics, is required. Highly autonomous individuals with a strong motivation for independent research are sought.
