Key Responsibilities:
- Establish trust with parents, family members, children or young people through empathetic and respectful communication.
- Collaborate effectively with other agencies to address complex problems and develop solutions that prioritize child safety.
- Work closely with families to identify goals that meet their needs, addressing concerns related to safety and well-being.
- Develop and implement safety plans, conducting thorough risk assessments to ensure the best outcomes for children.
- Manage high-needs and high-risk cases, providing ongoing support and guidance to clients and their families.
- Participate in individual and group supervision, including court processes and document preparation.
As an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker, you will face challenging situations requiring compassion, empathy, and strong decision-making skills.
Requirements:
- Confidence, curiosity, and resilience are essential qualities for this role.
- A relevant diploma or degree is preferred, but applicants without a qualification require at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children and their families.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to build positive working relationships.
- A valid driver's license and Working with Children clearance number.
- Documented verification of Aboriginality confirming your identity as an Aboriginal person.
