Job Title: Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist
Job Description:
This role presents a unique opportunity to work in child protection, supporting vulnerable children and families. As an Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting assessments and developing plans to address safety concerns.
You will work collaboratively with parents, family members, children or young people to identify and address well-being concerns. This may involve engaging in complex problem solving to develop safety plans and complete risk assessments.
Key responsibilities include working sensitively and respectfully with clients, building positive relationships and communicating effectively. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
A relevant diploma or degree qualification is preferred. Alternatively, applicants without a relevant qualification require at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
The successful candidate will have a valid driver's licence, a paid working with children clearance number, and documented verification of Aboriginality confirming they are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent and identify as being Aboriginal.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant diploma or degree qualification (preferable)
- At least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families (for those without a relevant qualification)
- Valid driver's license
- Working with Children Clearance Number
- Documented verification of Aboriginality
